Vegan “Netflix” VegMovies Has Arrived

The vegan version of “Netflix” has arrived! VegMovies is a database of over 200 movies that are in some way related to veganism or animal rights.

Web design company Veg Groups built the VegMovies platform to make vegan and animal rights themed movies easier to discover and access all in one place.

Movies with messages about climate change, veganism, animal rights, and vegan characters are some of the requirements VegMovies uses to choose films.

With categories, you can browse like “Family Friendly”, “Health”, “Environment”, and “Animals” separate it from streaming services like Netflix or Hulu.

You’ll find all the information you are used to like movie run times and plot summaries right alongside a testimonials section where people that have been impacted by the movie will share their experience and insights.

VegMovies creates its lists also based on the various streaming services. You can see what vegan-themed movies are available on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and others without extra steps in a search.

The “Coming Soon” section contains links to many free vegan movies and to those independent films you can purchase.

The platform is particularly focused on guiding people to vegan-themed movies that are currently in development and need our support.

They help to funnel supporters to these projects so that the vegan community can help fund them.

“The launch of VegMovies has been three years in the making,” Veg Groups Founder Jason Schramm told Vegan News.

“There are so many great movies that are animal-oriented or have a vegan focus, but it can be hard to filter through all of the choices. Until now there hasn’t been a single place where all of the movies could be easily found. Somewhere that was constantly updated with the latest objective information on each film and where to watch them.”

As movies come and go from the various platforms online VegMovies will continuously update film titles as they drop off or become available.

Some of the current films available on VegMovies include the award-winning health-centered vegan documentary “The Game Changers”, “The Farm” which is a horror movie with the roles reversed on humans, “Dominion” the Australian documentary often called the Aussie “Earthlings”, and many others including those coming soon like “They’re Trying to Kill Us” which is currently crowdfunding to get made.

“They’re Trying to Kill Us” looks at veganism through the black American experience by using hip-hop culture, poverty, and systemic racism to break through to the audience.

Under the Netflix section on the site some notable movies you should watch are “Okja”, Joaquin Phoenix’s “The Animal People”, the classic “Watership Down”, “What The Health” which has made many go vegan, “Cowspiracy” a must-watch if you want to know the truth of the animal agriculture industry, and “Black Fish” the documentary that has bankrupted Sea World by revealing the harsh realities of Orca in captivity.

Help fund vegan creators by purchasing or watching one of the films listed on VegMovies through your favorite streaming platform.

Consider supporting the crowdfunding campaigns for important vegan films like “They’re Trying to Kill Us” so the message of compassion and social justice can get out in front of new demographics.
