Dominos Pizza Launching Vegan Cheese
.
Domino’s Pizza is set to launch plant-based vegan cheese for its pizzas in early 2020. It will unfortunately for those outside of the UK only be in the UK and eventually three other nations that have yet to be announced confirms (PETA) People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
They join the large and growing list of other pizza chains in the UK including Pizza Express, Zizzi, Pizza Hut, and Papa John’s in adding plant-based vegan options.
PETA announced the launch by saying:
“By adding vegan choices to its menu, Domino’s will help meet the booming demand for vegan food and make it that much easier to live an animal-friendly life. Consumers who choose to ditch dairy spare cows immense suffering on factory farms and help combat the devastating environmental impact of animal agriculture.”
A spokesperson for Domino’s confirmed this was true but made sure to say:
“The rumors are true. We have been working hard to perfect a vegan recipe with the unmistakable taste of Domino’s fresh dough and cheesy goodness. We’re not quite there yet, but vegan pizza lovers shouldn’t have to wait much longer.”
The shift towards vegan plant-based options is becoming a rising trend that will only grow in 2020 and the new decade beyond as the multi-billion dollar plant-based food industry grows larger than the animal agriculture industry by the end of the decade.
Domino’s Pizza like many corporate chains is starting to see that there is a huge market for plant-based meats and cheeses. They will do testing just like Beyond Meat and Impossible foods have done. During testing, they will find all expectations have been exceeded so they will launch nationally much lie Burger King did when testing their Impossible Whopper that sold out in mere days during testing.
Making a plant-based diet easier and more accessible to the general public is how we create a vegan world! Support these steps towards that goal in whatever way you can.
