NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Vick will not be removed and he has made a lot of progress since conviction:
“Over the last, what is it, nine years or so, we have supported Michael in his recognition of the mistake he made,” he said at a press conference. “He’s paid a heavy price for that. He’s been accountable for it.”
Vick who was convicted for running a dog fighting ring back in 2007, rehabbed his image after serving 18 months in prison. But many don’t know the true extent of what he did to the dogs he used for dog fighting.
What he did and participated in was not just a vague amount of “dog fighting”. He tortured and killed multiple dogs in ways only someone lacking empathy could do.
-He nailed at least one dog to a tree for losing a fight
-He shot dogs
-He hung at least 3 dogs
-He cut the lips off of multiple dogs
-He grabbed a dog by their legs and slammed them on the ground until the dogs back and neck broke. He continued slamming the dog until they stopped breathing.
-He had a “rape stand” where female dogs would be strapped in and left for days at a time while other dogs assaulted her endlessly.
-He placed peoples family pet dogs into the ring with his “trained pit bulls”. Vick, Peace, and Phillips found it funny to watch their dogs rip apart the untrained dogs.
In short Vick is an irredeemable monster that doesn’t deserve to breathe our air let alone be an NFL captain giving advice and being a mentor to current NFL players. It’s out right atrocious that the NFL continued to let him play after being released from prison but to continue holding him up in the public spotlight yet again is truly disturbing.
