Beyond Meat Giving Away Over 1 Million Burgers To Feed Healthcare Workers
Beyond Meat has announced that they will be giving away over 1 million Beyond Burgers to feed healthcare workers during the ongoing crisis as well as providing jobs to the workers of restaurants closed due to the pandemic.
“We at Beyond Meat feel a deep responsibility to give back by providing access to good, nourishing meals at no cost.”
Over the next month the plant-based vegan company will be launching its “Feed A Million+” campaign in an effort to assist those on the front lines battling this virus caused by eating animals.
“We are dedicated to making sure those who need it most right now have access to a good, nourishing meal at no cost,” Beyond Meat said on social media.
Thanks to Beyond Meats brand ambassadors, employees, and friends they are donating and volunteering with food banks as well as assisting other organizations in need.
“Our goal has always been to use food as a vehicle for change, and we’re fortunate to be in a position to put that into action now like never before,” the brand added.
Brand ambassadors and investors comedian Kevin Hart and NBA basketball star Kyrie Irving have also thrown their money and time to help in the campaign.
Kyrie Irving donated over 200,000 plant-based vegan Beyond Burgers to multiple food banks and charities throughout New York while Kevin Hart has sent an undisclosed amount of the vegan burgers to Northridge Hospital Medical Center in California.
Mr. Hart also posted a video to his Instagram saying:
“I want to give a shout-out to my partners in crime over there at Beyond Meat. You guys are unbelievable, feeding over a million people right now through these crazy times is a must. I love the fact that you’ve stepped up and I want to do my part as your partner, I want to step-up as well.”
Saying frontline healthcare workers were “real heroes” he conveyed his gratitude about the sacrifices and hard work these medical professionals from doctors to nurses and everyone in between have displayed during this ongoing pandemic. Hart said he wants to make sure they have proper meals during their efforts.
The video’s caption reads: “Today, I’m sending Beyond Burgers over to Northridge Hospital Medical Center with the help of @doordash & @hashtaglunchbag. @beyondmeat.”
Beyond Meat has asked their fans across social media platforms to nominate causes that matter to them as part of the feed a million campaign.
Beyond Meat is donating to selected causes through distribution centers they’ve set up in restaurants that have been closed due to the pandemic throughout Los Angeles and New York. This is also being done in an effort to help keep those at those restaurant’s employees during this tumultuous time.
“Our LA outposts are made possible by @hashtaglunchbag and @findyourhilltop and our NY outposts are operated by @rethinkfood.nyc. In both cities, @doordash will deliver the donated meals free of charge,” They said on Instagram.
