With only miles to spare from the slaughterhouse located in San Tan Valley, a cow escaped her fate by leaping out of the transport truck and onto city streets in the hot Arizona sun.
The videos seen on TikTok showed her desperation and confusion as she galloped away from certain death and the gaze of onlookers recording.
Later dubbed Mootilda she stopped to rest and graze by a pond feeling safe that her ordeal had come to an end but it hadn’t just quite yet.

Mootilda was soon recaptured though and scheduled yet again to be murdered in two days. Until Aimee Takaha of Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary stepped in to save her.
Telling ABC15 Arizona:
“When I first saw the video, I said, ‘I can take her here.’”
Getting in contact with the animals owner Takaha soon learned he wanted $2,500 dollars to save Mootilda and he demanded the money within 24 hours or she’d go to the slaughterhouse.

Aimee took to Facebook pleading Mootilda’s case and hoping others would be touched by her story too. She was right and in just 12 hours the funds had been raised thanks to over 60 individual donors making the life saving purchase possible.
“I said, I have the funds. Don’t you dare slaughter her tomorrow. You bring her here” Takaha told ABC15.
Mootilda arrived at the sanctuary shortly after on August 26th with a post marking her arrival on Facebook with thanks going to those that made it possible.
From Aimees Farm Animal Sanctuary Facebook:
“This is a happy ending that the world needs right now, She needed a happy ending, and she shall have one. I will strive to give her the best life a cow could have here at the sanctuary as I do with all of our residents, who each have a story of resilience, courage, and perseverance, and the will to live and be happy.”
She continued:
“She will only know love from the moment she steps on the property, It may take her a few days to adjust after her ordeal. I will be patient with her, I will give her space while she gets oriented, I will respect her for her courage, her fighting spirit to survive, and her magnificence as a bovine for all her years to come. She will be safe, she will be home.”
“I take a lot that are born different, maybe missing a limb, and they need a prosthetic, or maybe they have some kind of deformity and aren’t wanted,” she told the outlet. “Here, their differences are celebrated.”
Aimee has posted on the sanctuary’s Facebook since saying Mootilda is getting more comfortable already with a post showing “happy buck zoomies” and Mootilda may have found love with the sanctuary owner posting:
“Mootilda is just smitten with her man Adorabull,” the post reads. “I see a wedding in the near future.. ❤ ❤.”
“Just look at the progress already!” Takaha said in the post. “Amazing what some good nutrition, fresh cool water, grassy pastures, and a peaceful environment will do for a cow. She is some cow. She is a warrior. Thank you so much from the core of my being for your support that made this possible.”
In closing Aimee said to ABC15:
“We made it happen. We saved a life,” Takaha told the outlet. “She’s not my cow, she’s our cow. She’s the community cow.”
