KFC Selling Vegan Fried Chicken

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is at it again testing vegan fried chicken this time from the plant based food company Lightlife in Mississauga Ontario Canada. On November 27th the plant based vegan option will be available as a fried chicken sandwich and as popcorn vegan chicken.

But it should be noted given the recent Burger King lawsuit over the Impossible Whopper that the vegan options will be cooked in a separate fryer where the fries are.

This is a one day only test at this single location but if the test done by KFC earlier this summer in Atlanta Georgia (that sold out in five hours) is any indicator it’s sure to sell out fast and have crazy long lines. This test will decide whether or not KFC Canada takes these plant based options national in 2020.

“We believe the Colonel’s famous finger lickin’ good taste should have no boundaries,” Sam Redman, chief marketing officer, KFC Canada, said. “So we’ve created several craveable plant based options for Canadian’s looking for a meat free meal.”

For $6.99 CAD you can get an original or spicy breaded vegan fried chicken sandwich or in a meal for $8.99 CAD. There will also be a bundle for $10.99 CAD where you can try the popcorn chicken and the sandwich with fries, salad, and a drink of Bubly.
