Joaquin Phoenix Gives Best Actor Oscar Speech On Behalf Of Dairy Cows

Sunday night Joaquin Phoenix went above and beyond what any of us were expecting by speaking out on behalf of dairy cows and animal rights.

As he took the stage for Best Actor for his incredible performance in “Joker” he nervously gave a heartfelt speech (Currently trending #1 on YouTube) at the 92nd Academy Awards that will go down in history both for the Oscars and for animal rights.

“I see commonality, I think whether we’re talking about gender inequality, or racism, or queer rights, or indigenous rights, or animal rights, we’re talking about the fight against injustice. We’re talking about the fight against the belief that one nation, one people, one race, one gender, or one species has the right to dominate, control, use, and exploit another with impunity.”

“We’ve become very disconnected from the natural world, We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow and when she gives birth we steal her baby, even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable. And then we take her milk that’s intended for the calf and we put it in our coffee and cereal.”

Phoenix has been cementing his legacy both in his career and in the fight for animal rights over 2019 and into this new year by being a loud and unstoppable voice for the voiceless.

He has used every bit of exposure to speak out from when “Joker” first hit theaters and he went to regular showings in an ALF (Animal Liberation Front) hoodie and posed with fans afterward, to using this awards season that he has certainly swept to give speeches about climate change and animal rights.

He helped if not single-handedly was responsible for veganizing the Golden Globes dinner menu and held the same influence over the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), The Critics Choice Awards, and even the BAFTAs all displaying vegan plant-based menus for the first time this year.

Even the Oscars luncheon was completely vegan and plant-based while somewhere around 80 percent of the Governor’s Ball and after-party was plant-based vegan as most stars like Leonardo DiCaprio chose the plant-based options over the traditional animal-based offerings.

Joaquin Phoenix has become a beacon in the animal rights movement showing how we all should dedicate ourselves to liberation. After he won his Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award he went straight to “Farmer John’s” slaughterhouse Los Angeles pig vigil still in his tuxedo to protest the injustice these animals face every day.

He said he just “had” to go there and fight against the injustice posted LA Animal Save who puts on the vigil for the poor souls that go into that last living hell at “Farmer Johns”.

Rooney Mara who recently got engaged to Joaquin Phoenix is also a regular at animal rights events often with Phoenix. She has even done an undercover investigation with Animal Equality whom the couple both work with regularly to shine a spotlight on what’s happening to these animals using their celebrity.

Joaquin has truly been everywhere this year. One day he’s in London for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs) where afterward he tied himself alongside other protestors in the UK to a bridge and the next day he’s on a gigantic billboard in Atlanta Georgia working with PETA to Speak out for the animals.

He has attended Jane Fonda’s climate protest rally both in Washington DC (where he was arrested) and in Los Angeles where she moved the protests to after being arrested around 11 times in DC alongside Phoenix and Martin Sheen.

Rooney and Phoenix have also done many protests together including leading an animal rights march last year through downtown Los Angeles while carrying the animal victims of the ongoing injustices done to them.

Phoenix’s performance as the off-kilter and mentally ill Arthur Fleck in “Joker” has not only cleaned up at the awards shows this season but at the box office too. “Joker” has earned more than $1 billion dollars at the box office making it the very first rated-R movie to accomplish that feat even surpassing Deadpool.

During his British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs) he also spoke out on behalf of the injustice done to fellow humans. He highlighted the systemic racism in Hollywood saying humbly:

“So many of my fellow actors that are deserving don’t have that same privilege, I think that we send a very clear message to people of color that you’re not welcome here. I think that’s the message that we’re sending to people that have contributed so much to our medium and our industry, and in ways that we benefit from. This is not a self-righteous condemnation, because I’m ashamed to say that I’m part of the problem.”

Phoenix who was PETA’s 2019 person of the year is looking like a shoo-in to collect that award again in 2020 as he does his part to fight for justice. We look forward to both his sequel to “Joker” and all the good he will continue to do as the year goes on.
